Thought I'd start the initial discussion here. I have been on IRC since Summer of 2000. It was on DALnet in a channel calls #kidz_, can't believe I still remember that!
How long have you been on IRC and where did you start?
I started IRC in 2014. I was writing for a few online sites that paid writers to write. One of the sites was called Bubblews. Another was called Elite Writers. While on Elite Writers, anytime I would find a "bug" I would inform the guy that was in charge of taking care of the servers. He eventually created a channel on IRC just for that.
I became friends with the guy and eventually became his partner. My first network was called "FreshChat" with the nickname Christi. Then I moved to other networks like DalNet and Undernet. Then in 2016 I joined Freenode and EvilNet. I no longer join DalNet. I still have a connection on Undernet but I hate it there. I became a staff member on EvilNet and eventually linked my own server.
Around September or October of 2016 I joined Rizon and became a staff member there. I switched nicks on Rizon to Foxy and kept it.
I have been a staff member on several networks. Some never lasted for what ever reason. I have learned so many things while on IRC. So I am grateful I had a chance to be part of this huge community.
Foxy
I started using IRC on mibbit around January 2020, then ventured of to Rizon and a few other IRC Networks before then starting my own IRC Network(TechNet) on the summer of 2020.
I started being on IRC in 1998, on undernet.
I've created my own french speaking network (zeolia.net) on january 2003 and it's still alive :)
Pretty sure it was back around 2001. Started off with the same network I call "home" today, CyberArmy IRC (or CAIRC as we like to call it). It was the IRC network for a community site that seen lots of ups and downs, somehow the IRC network remained all these years.
I never branched out far from that one network until 2015.
