[18:38:07] KnownSyntax Yes, I use SQL almost daily here at Sony and I managed a few databases at GoDaddy (Teradata, Microsoft SQL Server, and a off-hand local MySQL install to test stuff).

[19:21:37] KnownSyntax Like access as in making new uses or locking tables to specific users or access rights?

[20:25:44] KnownSyntax Optimizing tables really depends on wtf you are doing to be fair

[20:25:55] KnownSyntax A lot is down to just the most heavy hitting and common SQL queries written

[20:26:18] KnownSyntax Indexes can be a huge help, but I’ve had indexes actually negative affect performance when they aren’t right for the queries running

[20:27:27] KnownSyntax Like my main db admin said, 9/10 it’s the query, 1/10 it’s the indexes or actual tables or server isn’t optimized with the right cache/memory/etc.
