[18:37:18] stranger in XMPP usually user ids are also hidden in public channels (so nobody can spam you with PMs) and IPs are only visible to server operators

[18:37:55] stranger but here there's no accounts on the server? I guess I mean is it feature of IRC or it's just how you implemented it?

[18:40:45] stranger_on_the_web I like the web version btw, with XMPP you can also set up something like this where users have kind of temporary accounts that are destroyed afterwards, looks very similar

[18:41:47] stranger anyway the best part is that you run it yourself and I guess both server and web client are free open source apps?

[19:00:35] stranger by the way the DW bot could be extended to enable IRC, in principle, is it something interesting to try? i.e. it would relay messages from dw to here and back (maybe in a separate channel). not sure it's any good but I just found a c++ implementation that could in theory be integrated https://github.com/fredimachado/IRCClient
