[15:49:29] stranger Still getting used to IRC... I see apparently offline messages are called "memos" and it's something special. No scrolling up a bit of chat history :(

[15:54:22] stranger Storing chats does not immediately mean that it's insecure ;) Especially if they are e2e encrypted

[15:55:15] stranger And in modern times with everyone having several devices to connect from, no chat storage is a bit impractical imho

[15:59:49] stranger XMPP does store chats on server but for certain number of days, it's a server setting. Also public channels are usually not encrypted - because it assumes everything you say there is not sensitive - but private channels can be encrypted and in fact are by default, along with one on one chats
