[01:39:39] acidvegas ^ LOL
[01:40:35] acidvegas Ive no intentions of abusing or misusing ircdriven
[01:40:39] acidvegas im nt even the one who added it tbh
[01:41:14] acidvegas Looks like a more mdoern version of netsplit tbh
[01:41:16] acidvegas I dig it
[01:41:24] acidvegas daniel2: you ever want help on the project im game
[01:41:31] acidvegas <- has experience monitoring massive amounts of irc networks
[01:41:47] acidvegas just ask siniStar about it :)
[05:58:15] siniStar good for you, acidvegas - fuck right off
[05:58:37] KnownSyntax I woulda said more modern version of SearchIRC because of the forum piece, but that works too with netsplit.de
[05:58:38] siniStar daniel2 and ComputerTech - enjoy this obviously great decision
[06:02:22] KnownSyntax To be fair scanning for open IRC networks ain't nothing malicious, can’t tell you how many scans I would get a day hitting
[06:02:51] siniStar KnownSyntax: no shit? he knows the malicious shit he's done - we all do. check his git history
[06:02:59] KnownSyntax my home IP when I had some random ports exposed (even now with my Plex server exposed I get a lot of random ass traffic and connections non-Plex related to that one port).
[06:03:07] * siniStar left #ircdriven
[06:04:00] KnownSyntax I’m not saying it can’t be used maliciously, was just commenting scanning in general isn’t until you try to auth or send random details to do more than probe. 🤦‍♂️
[06:04:03] KnownSyntax Rip
[06:05:33] KnownSyntax Probably could find a ton of non-listed smaller IRC networks doing that, maybe even have a subsection of “unlisted” networks that would show small details about them just to keep tabs on the overall IRC Heath year over year. Don’t think anyone has done that before (or at all).
[06:25:00] acidvegas I never shared or published any of the data from IRCP.
[06:25:08] acidvegas Was simple a study on the current state of IRC
[06:25:34] acidvegas but that was boring stats to me...i wanted a deep dive into the protocol
[06:25:57] acidvegas KnownSyntax │ To be fair scanning for open IRC networks ain't nothing malicious, can’t tell you how many scans I would get a day hitting
[06:26:00] acidvegas exactly.
[06:26:10] acidvegas Thats the current state of Ipv4. Eveeryone on irc is just new to this.
[06:26:34] acidvegas I get 12000 login attempts on ssh every single day
[06:26:52] acidvegas either way
[06:26:58] acidvegas seems like a cool community here
[06:27:15] acidvegas not everyone is as unstable as siniStar ready to trash me for n reason
[06:27:21] * acidvegas throws daniel2 an ice cold BUD c =)
[06:27:26] * acidvegas throws KnownSyntax an ice cold BUD c =)
[06:31:56] KnownSyntax Sorry for the late reply lol
[06:32:41] KnownSyntax But I never noted you haven’t shared that, but something IRCDriven could do in the future to expand those who don’t always register their networks (or know such a thing even exists).
[06:35:26] KnownSyntax Lol yeah, on my side project I get a ton of SSH failures/requests daily - basically what everyone does on known open ports for servers (I.e. SSH, FTP, etc.) people do for IRC. I think it wasn’t so common before recently as IRC was new-ish and everyone was on top of trying to cut down on IPv4 spam (DNSBL, BOPM/HOPM services). Nowadays you have ISPs recycling IPv4 addresses, shit, some even give all customers a static address ISP-wide (I
[06:35:26] KnownSyntax believe Sky ISP does this for all residential customers).
[06:36:43] KnownSyntax I’m sure once we ever (if ever) make the cut over to IPv6 it'll be harder at first for this to be replicated, but given time I’m sure it be the same as it is now with IPv4 in terms of people scanning IPv6 blocks for open ports.
[06:37:06] hgw7 hi all i just got my house raided by the federal police for scanning port 6667
[06:38:33] KnownSyntax Huh had no idea ircstats.org even existed
[06:40:02] KnownSyntax Lmao @ FBI raid. They can be careless, even for those who try to brute force them into SSH ports. The responsibility always shifts to the owner (admins?) of the server, which many shrug off or use fail2ban (or other external software with IP block timeouts/bans for failures). Nothing new, even on a commercial level.
[13:10:58] ComputerTech sup acidvegas
[13:11:12] ComputerTech [07:27:26] * acidvegas throws KnownSyntax an ice cold BUD c =)
[13:11:16] ComputerTech where's my bud light
[13:11:16] ComputerTech :<
[13:11:21] ComputerTech erm bud*
[13:11:25] * ComputerTech grabs his own magners
[13:11:26] ComputerTech >_>
[13:15:32] hgw7 <+daniel2> Well, I was sajoined to #tor and it said banned so got put in #blackhole
[13:15:32] hgw7 #tor is only meant to exist for people connecting via tor, #blackhole is the default sajoin if you attempt to join a channel you are banned from hence what happened
[13:15:55] hgw7 #superbowl works good though
[13:16:06] hgw7 fun for the entire family
[13:16:11] ComputerTech i got asked to join a channel, and got sajoined into 1k+ channels lmao
[13:16:11] ComputerTech :D
[14:42:32] acidvegas he knows the malicious shit he's done - we all do. check his git history
