[01:22:59] @ CrystalMath hi sushi-chan
[01:23:49] @ CrystalMath sushi-chan: soon i'm gonna need to build a wall
[01:24:51] @ CrystalMath sushi-chan: well, i also need to take down a wall to replace a leaking sewage pipe
[01:24:59] @ CrystalMath sushi-chan: but more importantly, i'm gonna build a wal
[01:25:00] @ CrystalMath *wall
[01:25:02] @ CrystalMath after that
[01:25:33] @ CrystalMath sushi-chan: i know walls, i know the best walls, believe me
[01:26:04] @ CrystalMath sushi-chan: you passed the GED right?
[01:26:13] @ CrystalMath yay
[01:27:04] @ CrystalMath congrats on the new machine linuxuser
[01:27:42] @ CrystalMath linuxuser: i need to build one too
[01:27:48] @ CrystalMath linuxuser: aside from a wall
[01:27:54] @ CrystalMath linuxuser: not sure what to do first
[01:28:03] @ CrystalMath linuxuser: but the machine i'm gonna build is gonna be from 2010s parts
[01:28:06] @ CrystalMath hi foxy
[01:28:42] @ CrystalMath linuxuser: 2010 was the best time, screw UEFI
[01:28:48] @ CrystalMath BIOS forever
[01:29:06] @ CrystalMath linuxuser: why do you need to multiboot several linuxes?
[01:29:10] @ CrystalMath :P
[01:29:40] @ CrystalMath Icedream: i prefer DOS partitions
[01:30:05] @ CrystalMath linuxuser: i always use MBR, except on floppies
[01:30:15] @ CrystalMath also, i need a board that supports floppies
[01:30:18] @ CrystalMath should mention that
[01:30:33] @ CrystalMath Icedream: i use it on all of them :P
[01:30:37] @ CrystalMath some are FAT32, some are ext2
[01:30:43] @ CrystalMath some have different partitions
[01:31:26] @ CrystalMath Icedream: there are firmware bugs on this board
[01:31:30] @ CrystalMath related to hardware support
[01:31:45] @ CrystalMath namely, if all the RAM cards are faster than DDR 1600
[01:31:49] @ CrystalMath it won't enter setup
[01:31:58] @ CrystalMath for some reason
[01:32:32] @ CrystalMath Icedream: no it's just a problem with the setup interface
[01:32:43] @ CrystalMath Icedream: everything works, but it won't enter setup
[01:32:49] @ CrystalMath Icedream: unless i plug in a slower RAM card :P
[01:33:00] @ CrystalMath at least 1
[01:33:29] @ CrystalMath linuxuser: journaling shmournaling
[01:33:57] @ CrystalMath Icedream: yes, but that lets me enter setup
[01:34:44] @ CrystalMath Icedream: the one DDR 1600 i have isn't working properly though
[01:34:57] @ CrystalMath Icedream: i should get more of those
[01:35:14] @ CrystalMath Icedream: i just plug it in to use the BIOS setup screen
[01:35:15] @ CrystalMath :P
[01:36:23] @ CrystalMath Icedream: the board allegedly supports 1866, but i guess not quite
[01:36:33] @ CrystalMath Icedream: anyway, screw that, i don't need 1866, why did i even buy it
[01:36:42] @ CrystalMath Icedream: when one of these breaks, i'm getting DDR 1600
[01:36:56] @ CrystalMath Icedream: i use 150 MB RAM
[01:37:03] @ CrystalMath Icedream: but the machine has 16G
[01:37:32] @ CrystalMath sushi-chan: you were once afraid of spiders?
[01:37:42] @ CrystalMath sushi-chan: hate can easily turn to love and vice versa
[01:38:28] @ CrystalMath Icedream: oh, i *can* use the full 16G
[01:38:31] @ CrystalMath Icedream: i just don't
[01:38:35] @ CrystalMath i love oldschool stuff
[01:38:43] @ CrystalMath so i created a CDE-like interface for myself
[01:39:18] @ CrystalMath Icedream: i based my interface on this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR7G-wIm-e8
[01:41:36] @ CrystalMath Icedream: btw for my version of CDE, i used the FVWM window manager, and the color schemes are copied from windows 95
[01:41:53] @ CrystalMath Icedream: i really love the windows 3.1 look, but windows 95 had better colors
[01:42:04] @ CrystalMath Icedream: in any case, i'm firmly stuck in the 20th century
[01:42:25] @ CrystalMath but sushi-chan you have no 20th century spiders :(
[01:43:41] @ CrystalMath Icedream: i also installed a win95 in a VM
[01:44:12] @ CrystalMath Icedream: well dosbox is better for that
[01:44:39] @ CrystalMath Icedream: well QEMU is the VM software and it's not very good with PIT timings
[01:45:17] @ CrystalMath Icedream: bochs kinda gets it right but bochs always has this weird problem with its interface
[01:45:26] @ CrystalMath Icedream: no matter what interface i build bochs for, it has SOME bug
[01:45:37] @ CrystalMath bochs with Xlib has these random CPU stalls
[01:45:42] @ CrystalMath idk what the hell is going on
[01:45:54] @ CrystalMath bochs with gtk sometimes just loses the display randomly
[01:45:58] @ CrystalMath and you have to restart it
[01:46:03] @ CrystalMath a few tries and it has a display
[01:46:08] @ CrystalMath otherwise it's just a transparent window
[01:46:28] @ CrystalMath Icedream: so every bochs interface has a different bug
[01:46:44] @ CrystalMath Icedream: i choose the bochs interface build based on which bugs i prefer
[01:47:26] @ CrystalMath Icedream: on windows 95 i can use Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 to browse the Information Superhighway
[01:47:39] @ CrystalMath Icedream: isn't that amazing?
[01:48:44] @ CrystalMath Icedream: do you also like to browse the Information Superhighway?
