[05:06:01] ski François Bourgeon's "Companions of the Twilight" is also quite amazing, imho. it takes place during the hundreds years' war, in France. parts of the story is dreamy, you're not sure what's really happening or not. and often you'll want to turn back pages to check details, to try to make sense of it all, getting realizations

[05:07:40] ski his "Passengers of the Wind" takes place during the slave trade across the Atlantic. partly on board a ship (which turns out to be a slaver ship), partly in Africa, partly in the new world. (the main focus of the story isn't the slave trade, but it's sometimes an important background part)

[05:08:22] ski in both stories, he's done extensive historic research, to get details of dresses, houses, ships, customs, &c. correct (as far as reasonable)

[05:10:15] ski Tardi's Adele albums are funny and absurd, set in fin de siècle Paris (around/after year 1900, up to WW1), following Adele, who's a journalist who investigates mystical or strange things
