[21:37:33] yournamehere my first job was 20k a year at a start up
[21:38:05] yournamehere but most people with a degree can except 60-80 for job 1, depending on what school you went to and your local tech scene
[21:38:45] yournamehere if you don't suck, aren't a pain to work with and don't work for some shit ass company, you should break 100k by 5 years in
[21:39:32] yournamehere I was self taught with an irrelevant degree
[21:40:39] yournamehere if you go the no degree/no relevant degree route you will work for shit ass companies for 2-4 years
[21:40:44] yournamehere hence the 20k starting
[21:41:04] yournamehere but once you can prove you can do they job they will hire anyone
[21:41:23] yournamehere I worked with someone who was a fucking crab fisherman
[21:41:30] yournamehere another who was an uber driver
[21:41:58] yournamehere they did bootcamps and worked somewhere and changed jobs for more $$ after a few years
[21:42:07] yournamehere and suddnely you're middle class
[21:48:58] yournamehere Nimko: you will be learning constantly as a dev so unless you study something extremely specific, you will likely do different things

[21:49:41] yournamehere I liked databases and backends, couldn't stand front end or UI
[21:50:14] yournamehere I mostly worked in .net because it was accessable to a noob at the time
