[01:58:48] Compy Thank you thank you!
[02:06:37] Compy foxy: I wasn't ever on FreshChat, nah. Empus is still... empus :)
[02:30:02] Compy I had a nice piece of salmon for dinner!
[02:30:31] Compy yep, with a dash of salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder with a side of rice pilaf.
[22:08:29] Compy Alright ComputerTech and friends... I have a spare 1U R6515 rackmount server. It has an AMD EPYC 7313 (16 core) processor in it, 128 gigs of ram. What should we run on it?
[22:10:17] Compy \g: Good idea
[22:11:51] Compy From Dell. I bought one to homelab with
[22:12:06] Compy (My other servers currently run Kubernetes)
[22:14:08] Compy Though I could turn the other one into a proxmox server and run them as a cluster, then just toss k8s on top
[22:22:19] Compy here.
[22:22:20] Compy \g: 3 of those servers identically configured. Another ubuntu server in a desktop chassis that's running a core i9-10850K, 64gb ram, 2TB nvme. All of those on a rack are powered by an APC UPS, fed into a cheap TPLink 24 port gigabit switch (it was a Ubiquiti Switch Pro 48, but the last lightning storm a few weeks ago nuked it). Routing is currently handled by a custom built Raspberry Pi CM4 based router at the edge. I have symmetric fiber/gigabit
[22:23:05] Compy Pro is the one with routing capabilities.
[22:23:17] Compy (I have a separate PoE switch I use for the NVR)
[22:23:28] Compy Some do, but I have the pro 48 without PoE
[22:23:31] Compy well, had.
[22:23:53] Compy I guess it had PoE for a split second... right before the magic smoke came out :)
[22:25:05] Compy \g: Its great stuff. I've got all UI APs and they've been rock solid.
[22:25:26] Compy I kinda want to tinker around with the UDM pro stuff
[22:30:12] Compy \g: The majority of compute goes to compiling the linux kernel. As a side business, I make embedded products that run linux, so we maintain our own software system for that. Other things running (mostly on k8s): Jellyfin, Matrix, an IRC testnet configuration for undernet, pihole, uptime kuma, a few laravel test applications.
[22:30:48] Compy Plex is greasy smooth. I installed Jellyfin last week and its decent.
