[04:17:26] ski morn
[21:38:48] ski IRC is, obviously, a social medium, just like mailing lists, and Usenet newsgroups
[21:39:13] ski indeed
[21:39:33] ski well, often they can MemoServ you
[21:39:58] ski but the lack of images, clips, page previews, are good features
[21:40:50] ski (also the lack of officially blessed publicly available logging, for people who weren't there at the time, is a good feature)
[21:43:01] ski i much prefer people being there in the moment, rather than fostering a culture of looking up answers in the history
[21:44:08] ski talking about IRCv3, Valware ?
[21:44:29] ski oh .. i haven't really botanized much amongst the IRCds
[21:44:44] ski (never tried running any of them myself)
[21:45:03] ski (i was, for a short while, an IRCop on one network, though)
[21:47:06] ski (a bit after, i got burned out for a while (multiple months), almost not being on IRC at all, and i guess they got tired of that. i don't blame them)
[21:47:11] ski nah, Mikoolo
[21:48:28] ski gentoo ?
[21:49:35] ski any particular reason you like this one best ?
[21:53:25] ski Mikoolo : i can see the moon
[21:56:17] ski ah, i think i viewed this video already, the other month, Valware
[21:57:10] ski it's not a bad, short overview
[21:59:29] ski what kinda groups are those ?
[21:59:34] ski groups of users on IRC ?
[22:01:58] ski just one of those, or can be multiple criteria ?
[22:02:32] ski (sounds like it's "structural", not "nominal", anyway .. if you understand the metaphor)
[22:03:51] ski "auto-join channels" -- by the IRCd ?
[22:04:13] ski oh, nested, how ?
[22:04:37] ski by defining a security group by referring to other security groups ?
[22:05:51] ski `security-group { <list>; };' -- i see
[22:06:57] ski the most specific "set block" applies ?
[22:09:11] ski yes, but in the example on your last link, the `maxchannelsperuser' was overridden for members of the specific group
[22:09:31] ski that's why i wondered whether the most specific "set block" applied
[22:10:25] ski or, perhaps, if there's more than one most specific, it would take the "minimum" of them, in some sense. or it could error out (statically or dynamically), in this case. or it could arbitrarily pick some option (such as the first, or the last, one)
[22:11:59] ski so, if you place the general "set block" before the specific one, the general always applies, the specific never ?
[22:12:19] ski or it's just the first specific one ? or the first of the most specific ones ?
[22:13:06] ski sorry .. i'm probably splitting hairs a bit .. just for some reason wondering about these edge cases here
[22:13:46] ski yea, okay. understood now
[22:14:54] ski i was just envisaging that one could potentially want, or employ, several different, more or less reasonable, ways of resolving the ambiguity of when there'd be more than one most specific one that applied
[22:16:07] ski yea, just opened that page
[22:17:06] ski no negation in the rules ?
[22:17:12] ski maybe you want monotonicity
[22:18:33] ski ah. that's not documented on that page
[22:19:00] ski although .. upon closer look, i see it's used in one example
[22:19:25] ski also, for some reason i first thought rules were named
[22:21:12] ski "rule"s originally made me think of declarative rules for specifying a knowledge base, as in Prolog programming
[22:21:19] ski no worry
[22:21:50] ski i'm humoring you, but i was also a bit curious about how you were handing the ambiguity issue above
[22:24:42] ski i do know how it feels to be exhilerated about some particular niche topic
[22:27:03] ski there's no option for ident, in security groups ?
[22:28:16] ski what kinda books ?
[22:28:39] ski maybe you found the cheat code
[22:29:39] ski hm, was that "Konami cheat code" ?
[22:31:34] ski (did play some things on emulator. and, a few things, tried a little, at other people's places)
[22:32:00] ski hm, i've heard the name of the series, but i dunno genré
[22:32:35] ski luvly jubly
[22:34:45] ski perhaps CT could start vtubing
[22:37:29] ski the drug, or the alias ?
[22:41:19] ski how was it ?
[22:51:25] ski some are partial
[22:57:26] ski you don't like tomato ?
[22:58:13] ski well, there's tea wine, why not tea pancakes ?
[23:02:32] ski najs
