[21:15:08] TeddyBearPC Hello y'all
[21:15:18] TeddyBearPC Anyone here familiar with PC issues related to in-game textures?
[21:15:31] TeddyBearPC You barfing?
[21:16:13] TeddyBearPC lol
[21:16:33] TeddyBearPC Thank you for sharing that, I had assumptions about the channel name Frogorg
[21:17:15] TeddyBearPC Well, in short, I have a Steam Game issue that persists in Windows 10, 11, and Debian and Linux. All Steam games have lowered texture quality, regardless of in-game settings, nvidia control panel settings, custom .ini config file changes, bios changes, etc.
[21:17:37] TeddyBearPC ^ This issue is something that persists for many online, and there is no definitive answer as to what causes it yet.
[21:17:59] TeddyBearPC I reinstalled all games, and steam, and operating systems. Makes no difference.
[21:18:14] TeddyBearPC Drivers I have tried numerous versions, old and new. And Stock drivers - also makes no difference unfortunately.
[21:18:37] TeddyBearPC It is a very strange issue. Never seen this before. It just started about a month ago in all games. Before this no issues.
[21:19:03] TeddyBearPC Also, I have an integrated Intel GPU and an NVidia Dedicated Gtx 1060 6GB. Both graphics processors display the same exact issues.
[21:19:24] TeddyBearPC I think it must be something to do with hardware yes, firmware I updated years ago from official websites - haven't messed with it for years, .
[21:19:44] TeddyBearPC Yes, I know. I figured some on here would know how to help me or point me in the right direction.
[21:20:00] TeddyBearPC Is there a nvidia support channel somewhere on irc?
[21:26:39] TeddyBearPC Haven't tried that yet
[21:26:53] TeddyBearPC I will try that tonight, I will write it down and get back to you.
[21:27:26] TeddyBearPC Fallout 4, SOMA so far
[21:27:46] TeddyBearPC Both games have same issue. I tested other games, but it is hard to know for sure because I didn't play them prior to this issue
[21:28:15] TeddyBearPC I don't believe it is hardware failure, as there is no sign of graphical glitches, hitching, frame rate drops, or other
[21:28:36] TeddyBearPC Yes, I have played with all of those settings, in conjunction with the nvidia control panel as well.
[21:28:49] TeddyBearPC Thanks Mikoolo
[21:30:57] TeddyBearPC I did install about 30+ mods for Fallout 4, and the mods worked great for about a month, then suddenly textures looked like crap. I have since reinstalled the game, and used no mods, and makes no difference. :(
[21:31:02] TeddyBearPC No framerate mods
[21:31:31] TeddyBearPC Yeah, that's what I was thinking Mikoolo. Problem is, there is no other issue in games. Perhaps the GPU memory is faulity.
[21:31:35] TeddyBearPC failing
[21:36:39] TeddyBearPC Is there anyway to find out if my gpu is failing?
[21:37:07] TeddyBearPC I should note Frogorg, I did try other games, like Bioshock remastered - the textures look great.
[21:37:22] TeddyBearPC Could it be an issue with DirectX / OpenGL, related to ther games?
[21:37:28] TeddyBearPC Or specific games running directX12?
[21:38:11] TeddyBearPC That's a great card you have. :)
[21:38:19] TeddyBearPC what CPU do you have?
[21:39:04] TeddyBearPC I suppose that depends on which games you play, yes. I have a GTX 1060 in the laptop, and a Vega 56 in desktop 1, RX480 in Desktop 2, HD7850 in Desktop 3.
[21:39:14] TeddyBearPC Nice computer.
[21:39:47] TeddyBearPC This laptop has an intel i7 8750H 6 core 12 thread. My Desktop 1 has an i9 9900k
[21:40:07] TeddyBearPC RTX 2080 is great too
[21:40:31] TeddyBearPC I spent $750 on my i9 9900k back in the day. It was stupid to purchase a CPU for 750
[21:40:38] TeddyBearPC I think the 9600k would have been the smart choice
[21:40:43] TeddyBearPC or 9700k
[21:42:49] TeddyBearPC lol
[21:42:53] TeddyBearPC That's too much
[21:43:13] TeddyBearPC PC's depreciate so much after buying
[21:43:45] TeddyBearPC I got a brand new Lenovo E14 Gen 2, for 450 at a buy and sell store. The owner left the receipt in the box, it was purchased 6 months earlier and he didn't need it. I saved over 800 dollars lol
[21:44:32] TeddyBearPC Are games starting to run bad on your 1070?
[21:44:48] TeddyBearPC I only ever play 1080p or 1080x2560
[21:45:04] TeddyBearPC That's unfortunate. They were expensive cards too.
[21:45:29] TeddyBearPC Yep, true.
[21:45:38] TeddyBearPC I am surprised the recent jump in game requirements.
[21:46:11] TeddyBearPC The length of time between Xbox 360/PS3 - and Xbox One/PS4 - was long enough to slow down the requirements for some time.
[21:46:36] TeddyBearPC Playing through Alan Wake 1 right now, it is an interesting game. Do you like it?
[21:47:11] TeddyBearPC Is it an open world at some point? I'm just in the first part of the game.
[21:47:25] TeddyBearPC k
[21:47:38] TeddyBearPC It sorta reminds me of silent hill at times
[21:47:42] TeddyBearPC the cinematics and whatnot
