[12:17:36] esjay network infra terms are stupid, my roommate and gf and I were talking about this a few days ago and why dark fiber is such a stupid term

[12:19:30] esjay I wanted to see if I could get access to some nearby since I live near NYC, but companies offering it are like "hurr 800gbit minimum" instead of like 10

[12:20:56] esjay this specific area fucking sucks for fiber too because it's connected to the road just 400 feet away but I can't even pay an isp to connect it to the premises

[12:21:35] esjay and the fcc broadband site says I should be able to get 2gbps from this one isp but nope

[12:38:49] esjay that's for like big businesses, schools, etc
