[14:32:28] ab Does anyone here know whether there are any websites where the 'unicorns in the Andes' demonstration is still available?
[14:38:18] ab I usually don't een bother to try Google because it's an idiot. Did it actually find something that DuckDuckGo didn't?
[14:40:41] ab Why would you just assume that I was an idiot who hadn't tried that? :-P
[14:42:14] ab Nothing is showing up on a search except articles *discussing* the thing, but I thought it was worth asking if anyone on here knew of anything.
[14:47:54] ab I did say that I'd already found articles describing it and that I was looking for the actual thing.
[14:48:05] ab I sometimes use it to explain how LLMs are fundamentally continue-this-text machines to people who are being bamboozled by them, but I can't find any working versions of it any more and the best I can do is an article describing what it used to do when it existed.
[14:53:59] ab :-D
[15:03:30] ab I might have been a bit crabby because I've just been having a very surreal online conversation with somebody who claims to have deciphered the Voynich manuscript, and when I point out logical problems in their argument they copy and paste me the AI's explanations of them, and seem to be completely oblivious to the fact that the explanations don't mean anything and have nothing to do with the question.
[15:06:02] ab They're definitely not a robot, they say things in human-speak as well, but it's like they're hypnotised or something.
[15:14:01] ab I'm confused.
[15:16:44] ab A library doesn't seem likely to have up-to-date information on whether there's an active website with the 'unicorns' demonstration on it. Or do you just mean to get away from the Voynich manuscript person? :-D
[15:39:16] ab I'm not actually really very interested in the manuscript, to be honest - maybe if their theory showed any sign of actually holding water, but it doesn't. I'm interested in why a group I'm in is suddenly being overrun by postings about it (they're on-topic, but we usually hardly ever get any mentions of it). They're all from different people and all proposing different theories. Some of them appear to be AI agents posting and even incoherently
[15:39:16] ab replying to replies, some of them are obviously humans but heavily AI-assisted. It's uncanny.
[15:57:42] ab Good.
[15:58:27] ab Propaganda for *what*?
[19:41:45] ab What was in Vatican 2?
