[05:11:31] + NiniGeo2 It was neat to see them make an actual CGA DOS game that fits in like 2MB of memory in 2015 :)

[05:11:51] + NiniGeo2 The spritework and toolwork they had to do was pretty intense. There's a Youtube video where they go over all the stuff they had to do to make it work :)

[05:31:52] + NiniGeo2 Hmmmm I mean the homebrew scene for a lot of retro consoles seems to be firing on all cylinders. There's people making mind-blowing demos and games that run on original hardware for things like the N64 and PS1 that probably weren't possible to pull off back in the day.

[05:32:42] + NiniGeo2 I think that there's torrents out there where you can download like every DOS game ever released.

[05:32:53] + NiniGeo2 And it's not that large. Most of those games ran on 1-3 floppy disks...

[05:45:45] + NiniGeo2 God of Thunder, Halloween Harry, Hocus Pocus, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, Bio Menace, Raptor: Call of the Shadows, Major Stryker, GTA 2.

[05:46:22] + NiniGeo2 Those were the sorts of DOS games I grew up with.

[05:48:05] + NiniGeo2 There's also a lot of DOS games that I played when I was older like in 2005+ and I could appreciate more than when I was a kid. Things such as SimCity 1, Fallout 1/2, Command & Conquer, Dune 1/2, X-COM, I Have No Mouth and Must Scream. But these were less "kid's games" so I didn't appreciate them when I was younger. Those are now obvious classics.

[05:48:49] + NiniGeo2 Soooooo Commander Keen 1/2/3 were on a much earlier game engine and had a worse control scheme and map design. Keen 4/5/6 were the second generation Keen game engine and they had much better level design and gameplay IMO.

[05:49:09] + NiniGeo2 Same thing with Duke 1 vs Duke 2. Those early DOS platformers really needed one generation of games to figure it out before they got good IMO.

[05:49:52] + NiniGeo2 Oh yeah I played that when I was in high school or college. It was nuts. Veeeery mature point & click adventure game :P

[05:52:30] + NiniGeo2 Hmmmm it's not strictly a DOS game, but I feel like a lot of the early CD-ROM games fit into a similar category. Did you ever play The Logical Journey of the Zoombinis? I enjoyed that one as a kid, and then when I was in high school, and then my friends and I would get drunk and lose at it when we were in college because we couldn't pay attention :P
