[14:19:17] ViperXL75 I got the shock of my life today when I saw that all of a sudden one of my HDDs disappear from my Raid-1 construction. I'm using MDADM. But the thing is, that when I don't even "see" the disk appearing when I use lsblk, fdisk -l, df
[14:20:18] ViperXL75 Now I'm even more nervious cuz "what if" I open the server and find out that it was just a loose cable and I re-attach it? Then suddenly there is a HDD connected to the RAID1 again. But then it's outdated compared to the other HDD. Who overwrites who?
[15:13:58] ViperXL75 That's the thing. I don't know (yet). I'm just afraid of start touching without knowing what will happen "if" the HDD gets reconnected. I will need to open up the PC later on.
[15:16:10] ViperXL75 It's just the first time "ever" that a HDD just disappeared like that from my /dev/sd* list. I've been running RAID1 for over a decade but usually I'll just see one of the HDD start failing with lots of SMART warnings. But now it simply disappeared. Does HDD ever fail like that? I thought that only loose cabled could cause it to fail like this.
