[07:18:14] aaabbb hi
[07:19:42] aaabbb omfg lmao
[07:19:47] aaabbb that makes me smile
[07:24:05] aaabbb Guest9204: if you don't know what you're doing, you should always update it to the latest version within debian
[07:25:37] aaabbb Guest9204: do you mean compiling your own kernel?
[07:26:31] aaabbb have you compiled kernels before?
[07:27:42] aaabbb yeah play with it in a vm first. the problem isn't that using the latest kernel will break debian (it won't), but that you can easily create a broken or non-functional kernel if you configure it wrong
[07:28:09] aaabbb yeah don't go too lean for your first time
[07:28:26] aaabbb once you get really familiar with the kernel options (there are hundreds of options), then you can remove parts that you don't need
[07:29:30] aaabbb but until you know if you need things like CONFIG_NF_TABLES_INET turned on or off, then you should use a default configuration to start with. there are lots of good kernel compilation guides
[07:29:42] aaabbb i can help if you run into trouble (and if i'm online). i've compiled kernels thousands of times for various hardware
