[05:04:44] NiniGeo2 From what I've seen it's almost always a case where the target user uses the same username on multiple websites, so the doxxers find another one of their accounts and scrape together information from multiple accounts to attempt to piece together where somebody lives.
[05:05:19] NiniGeo2 If any of those accounts is a social media account, those often include a lot of "where you are" info in terms of general location descriptions and any photos or videos that you post tend to have location information embedded in them also.
[05:06:20] NiniGeo2 Possibly, if the data breach happened on a given website then that could be an extra source of info for the doxxers to use to be able to combine with other stuff.
[05:09:01] NiniGeo2 Yes I would recommend using a unique username for each website that you use as a safety measure against doxxing.
[05:09:18] NiniGeo2 You still have to follow "common-sense" practices like not publically disclosing your real info as well.
[05:11:12] NiniGeo2 It's especially difficult with social media I think because many of those websites are run with the assumption that users who are connected on the social graph also have some connection in real life, and if you have real life connections to folks it's difficult to not disclose or know your real name and location.
[05:16:32] NiniGeo2 Mmhmm, the connection to real world other people is definitely a big part of the draw, it's also where the risk comes from!
[05:19:37] NiniGeo2 Mmhmm~
[05:19:41] NiniGeo2 Have a good night, Nimko!
