[22:05:49] superkuh/rizon It was nice.
[22:06:16] superkuh/rizon I registered that joke domain just to complain.
[22:09:23] superkuh/rizon There really is no other option. I tried duckduckgo for a while. It seems even worse. marginalia and searx are good for niche things and scholar.google.com still works. Asking chatgpt can be helpful but it's not a replacement for early/functional google experience.
[22:09:56] superkuh/rizon Fravia of searchlores would be rolling in his grave.
[22:11:42] superkuh/rizon I am trying it now.
[22:13:28] superkuh/rizon The you.com LLM AI returned my webpage as a cited source when I asked about "pyroelectric particle acceleration". It is much more confident than I am about what it's citing. But it is neat. Thank you.
[22:14:45] superkuh/rizon Who is behind you.com? I assumed it was just some front-end and data-processing for a pipe to openai's API.
[22:16:02] superkuh/rizon Sigh. I miss the days when whois had information too.
[22:19:17] superkuh/rizon "You.com doesnt really say what YouChat is based upon." But based on my last 2 minutes of interaction I can tell 100% it's openai's gpt.
[22:19:45] superkuh/rizon Based on how it refused to respond and what it refuses to respond to it seems like it's gpt3.5-turbo.
[22:23:00] superkuh/rizon If so they're used the openai api to generate a synthetic fine-tuning training set that is very much like gpt4. Many models do this. It's super annoying.
