[04:07:31] Gentoo/rizon All apple products ever can be described as you just did?
[04:07:48] Gentoo/rizon :3
[04:08:04] Gentoo/rizon !bang
[04:08:08] Gentoo/rizon !reload
[04:10:08] Gentoo/rizon Why would you keep such a proprietary computer when you should get a KGPE-D16 and https://libreboot.at/ it instead?
[04:10:25] Gentoo/rizon 280 W of heating, just from the CPUs
[04:10:40] Gentoo/rizon So you're no longer poor?
[04:10:53] Gentoo/rizon Sad!
[04:11:26] Gentoo/rizon AaaaAAAAAaAAAaHhhhhHHHHhhhhHhhhhHhhH
[04:12:07] Gentoo/rizon But at least it's not your computers and you don't have to use them yourself.
[04:12:52] Gentoo/rizon Well, what OS's do the PoS's run?
[04:13:41] Gentoo/rizon I hope they're meeting their GPLv2 and GPLv3 obligations.
[04:13:58] Gentoo/rizon How do they offer the source?
[04:15:35] Gentoo/rizon Private usage doesn't have any requirements, but if you are putting the OS on a machine that you're selling to someone else, that is conveying.
[04:15:48] Gentoo/rizon I'll be glad to receive details.
[04:16:30] Gentoo/rizon I don't see how that makes any difference really. I'm starting to feel potential intentional attempts to subvert the requirements.
[04:17:08] Gentoo/rizon !bang
[04:17:37] Gentoo/rizon 0. What OS is installed on the PoS's that we sell. If it's GNU, ask them if they're following the conditions of the licenses of the software
[04:18:53] Gentoo/rizon >Discord notifying
[04:19:33] Gentoo/rizon As for further questions, I don't really have enough information about the PoS's to ask further.
[04:21:19] Gentoo/rizon To be honest, a NDA where you agree to hide copyright infringement is illegal.
[04:22:05] Gentoo/rizon Why won't you share information with your neighbours? Not sharing is more wrong than sharing
[04:23:22] Gentoo/rizon Esjay, That's a real shame. I myself will refuse to betray humanity no matter what.
[04:23:51] Gentoo/rizon [x] DOUBT
[04:24:33] Gentoo/rizon Most jobs are the very definition of something that is bad for humanity, although good for a bosses profits./
[04:25:20] Gentoo/rizon She won't be able to figure out how to log in to irc or read the logs, don't worry.
[04:26:59] Gentoo/rizon Esjay, Reduce, reuse, recycle - in that order. It's kind of too late if the unneeded garbage has already been made, even if such things can be recycled.
[04:29:45] Gentoo/rizon Yes.
[04:30:32] Gentoo/rizon One with dual 6282 SE's, one with dual 6278 SE's, with >=64 GB ECC.
[04:32:31] Gentoo/rizon Poweredge R710s? Sounds proprietary.
[04:33:08] Gentoo/rizon 3
[04:33:39] Gentoo/rizon I have one as a server, although it has a single 6278 so it doesn't use too much power.
[04:34:17] Gentoo/rizon Computer use.
[04:34:27] Gentoo/rizon It's the finest 12 year old CPUs you can get - they init without you needing to provide proprietary software and they're stable without any proprietary microcode updates.
[04:36:45] Gentoo/rizon The only blockers are small inconveniences like problematic RAMinit for crappy kingston stricks (dasharo seems to have improved RAMinit and I don't have any RAMinit issues for quality Hynix RAM), usb init issues (board depending, I have one board that needs the usb devices plugged in after init, but I have everything connected to a hub anyway and another that works fine), continued...
[04:40:25] Gentoo/rizon There's a lack of G34 CPU fans (although it's not too hard to mod certain models of CPU coolers to fit and some come with built-in springs that can be reused and screws that fit), ACPI sleep doesn't work and you really need to add a fan for the southbridge so it doesn't overheat, but those are just minor issues, considering you get a server grade computer with ECC.
[04:44:51] Gentoo/rizon For the server I spent around $200 USD for the motherboard, $50 for the CPU, $33 for the CPU fan, nothing for the RAM (as I reused the crappy RAM from a proprietary server that was being thrown out), $40 for the E-ATX case (I ended up re-using a case I already had that could be modded to fit E-ATX), $66 (I think) for a quality PSU, ~$15 on case fans and $16.5 for a quiet 70mm fan (but I als
[04:44:51] Gentoo/rizon worth it useful)
[04:45:54] Gentoo/rizon There's nothing more comp-sci that having to cut the CPU fan bracket to the wanted dimensions with only a vice, hacksaw and grinder.
[04:47:57] Gentoo/rizon Yes, I aim for the lowest prices possible for quality hardware.
[04:48:14] Gentoo/rizon I forgot, $33 for a HDD as well.
[04:49:43] Gentoo/rizon As for the first desktop computer, all the prices were about the same, except I got 2 CPU fans for $33 each, 2 6282 SE's for around $70 for both, a SSD for about $33 and a gtx 780 Ti for about $92.
[04:51:06] Gentoo/rizon Ah yes, ~$100 for 64 GB of DDR3 ECC
[04:51:45] Gentoo/rizon Esjay, The 115 W 6278, but that's really 2 CPUs on one package and uses like 60W on moderate load.
[04:52:08] Gentoo/rizon The CPU in my librebooted thinkpad has a lower TDP now that I think about it.
[04:54:41] Gentoo/rizon As for the second, the same except $23 each for 2 6278's and like $130 for 128 GB of the highest clocked ECC DDR3 that's supported and $53 for a 780.
[04:55:34] Gentoo/rizon This board seems to be easier to get and is slightly cheaper: https://libreboot.at/docs/hardware/kcma-d8.html it's pretty much the workstation version of the board and it's easier to get a CPU fan to fit.
[04:55:58] Gentoo/rizon >Son Yikes
[04:57:01] Gentoo/rizon The 400 series is superior, as they can boot up without you having to load proprietary software.
[04:57:58] Gentoo/rizon It's no real loss to lose tyrant hardware that uses a signature check to enforce the running of proprietary software.
[05:00:13] Gentoo/rizon Chinese KGPE-D16s are really a hit or a miss - sometimes you get good boards with an empty BMC slot and 2 CR3023 slots, sometimes you get 1 CR3023 slot and a BMC soldered on (I discovered that overwriting the proprietary software with 0's on the BMC softbricks the board until you desolder the BMC).
[05:00:42] Gentoo/rizon Lead solder + soldering iron + pliers and it comes right off mind you.
[05:02:31] Gentoo/rizon Hi.
[05:03:41] Gentoo/rizon Since irc is serious business.
[05:05:22] Gentoo/rizon Hmm, unison just wiped out a whole directory as I accidentally got the path wrong. Good thing I sync'd it last night.

[05:36:13] Gentoo/rizon Esjay, All the points are correct as far as I am aware.
[05:36:32] Gentoo/rizon Esjay, Yes, you can get lucky and have your VPN not be picked up.
[05:38:36] Gentoo/rizon ^
[05:39:58] Gentoo/rizon For 3 people that's good enough. Even one for talking to yourself will do, but N >= 2 gets exponentially better as more people are added.
[05:40:07] Gentoo/rizon ComputerTech, Do you have a long neckbeard?
[05:40:28] Gentoo/rizon I don't want to see your unclean face then.
[05:42:03] Gentoo/rizon ski, It's quite good up to after the core 2 duo series. Past the core 2, you can't completely remove such proprietary software - only cut the amount down.
[05:42:44] Gentoo/rizon logout, It's cryptographically impossible to get rid of the proprietary software that makes up the PSP unless they made a mistake with the crypto,
[05:43:33] Gentoo/rizon Yes, all good AMD CPUs don't have the PSP
[05:44:25] Gentoo/rizon Reverse engineering doesn't really equate to replacement.
[05:44:57] Gentoo/rizon >provide a free and open source vanilla firmware. >via the PSP Homebrew Community Discord server (preferred) Sure buddy
[06:02:46] Gentoo/rizon Now those are the malice filled eyes of a proprietary software developer...
[06:16:38] Gentoo/rizon Cringe.

[08:35:15] Gentoo/rizon What a complete crap driver. He doesn't even seem to be braking that hard.
[08:35:35] Gentoo/rizon Thankfully the innocent pedestrian didn't get run over.
[08:36:22] Gentoo/rizon I use metric myself instead of braindead units, so no need to add them.
[08:36:45] Gentoo/rizon Other channel users can fire up GNU units and convert.
[08:38:24] Gentoo/rizon The idiot pushes the car into oversteer as well. If he had just slightly let up off the brakes and turned right, he would have made it instead of running onto the pavement.
[08:39:16] Gentoo/rizon A combination of going way too fast for the conditions + crap driving ability == onto pavement
[08:41:34] Gentoo/rizon login, Don't keep turning the wheel if the car stops turning in that direction as much as you want to, continue braking, see if you can steer a little more in that direction.
[08:44:21] Gentoo/rizon Slamming on the brakes helps bleed off any excess speed, but it also lessens your ability to steer (although ABS allows you to steer even under maximal braking), but sometimes a little less than full brakes can allow steering into where more braking space is available.
[08:47:38] Gentoo/rizon In the video is looks like the car is oversteering left and right as it goes through the intersection (seemingly from excessive steering wheel inputs), until it unrecoverable oversteers left.
[08:49:24] Gentoo/rizon I only really recently learned that cars are only really crash tested at 50km/h, so if you want to crash into a brick wall, or another car, try to get the speed below 50 first.
[08:50:58] Gentoo/rizon Yes - stick to the conditions, but if the conditions allow dead on the speed limit, you should do so.
[08:53:54] Gentoo/rizon There's always clowns that love doing 20-30km/h over the speed limit and cutting me off (instead of driving for literally another 2 seconds until there's a safe gap to merge into), even in vehicles that clearly can't brake as well as theirs and have a lot of crap in the back and tailgating me when I'm doing the speed limit.
[08:55:18] Gentoo/rizon It's bad enough for some that maybe I should go to the effort to m mount a head camera (that runs free software) and submit some interesting video evidence.
[09:00:35] Gentoo/rizon Well yeah, how else do I show tailgating?
[09:11:59] Gentoo/rizon Do you have a cave with magical preserving properties to store them in?>
